The Swedish furniture retailer is opening a position at the UK and Ireland division. This position requires a chief play officer to test out its recently launched toys. The kids must be 4-12 years old.

However, there are a few qualifications. The kids must have a love for play and adventure. This also includes an imagination that transforms everyday ordinary objects like chairs, into something like forts and castles. Considering, these are what kids are good at, doesn’t seem a very hard task.

According to research commissioned in the UK, children are playing less. What their parents did at their age is still a significant amount more than what the children are spending time playing today. Coronavirus pandemic affects playing time as well. It has been surveyed that parents are also noticing a major change in the moods of their child.

For the first time, Ikea is introducing this role to celebrate playing as a fundamental right. The company mentions that it is not a job that gives out salary but more of a contest, and spending time with toys- toys, by the way, they will get to keep after testing out. There is more for the winning candidate, where they can serve as a CPO for a year from the beginning of 2021.
