Lloyd’s Estate C and D Wing collapsed; no casualties reported

Mumbai: A portion of the compound wall, alongwith the driveway at Lloyd’s Estate C&D Wing (Wadala Heights Co-operative Housing Society), abutting Dosti Realty’s under construction project at Vidyalankar College Road, Wadala (East), collapsed earlier this morning at around 4am taking with it 7-8  motor vehicles whilst no casualties have been reported in the Society.

As a precautionary measure, the residents were asked to evacuate their homes leading to extreme inconvenience, especially to senior citizens, ladies & young children.

The Society had witnessed significant sinking of its stilt area since the past more than a year (owing to the adjoining piling work) and had held multiple conversations with the representatives of Dosti Realty from May 2017, highlighting the seriousness of the situation, including filing of a case against them in the City Civil Court, asking for a stay order on the ongoing construction.

The concern was also shared in writing with the Antop Hill Police Station & the F North ward of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation via multiple letters throughout this period. During the pendency of these hearings, Dosti Realty did undertake, temporary ongoing repairs to patch the concerned areas, as they emerged – confirming their awareness of the seriousness of the situation.

Dosti Realty has also put up a cement mixing plant at its construction site & there has been a continuous oozing out of water from underground which they are pumping into the nearby drain & choking it completely. This has in turn led to flooding of our Society right from the gate onwards on a number of occasions which continues till date.

Whilst the stay order was not granted, the Court process was ongoing including the appointment of a Structural Engineer – when the event happened earlier today.
